Why vote right?
Why would anyone consider voting Republican or to the right? Over the last 20 months this party has done nothing but obstruct the operation of government. Take the following items as examples of Republicans governing if they win back Congress and the White House.
One – Republican Senators refuse to hold hearings on the Deep Water Horizon explosion. Eleven people were killed and the Gulf of Mexico waters will be ruined for years. The fishing industry is destroyed and recently researchers testing the waters found carcinogens 40 times higher than norm. Once again big oil is protected by the Republicans and not a single person assumes responsibility for those eleven deaths.
Two – Jim DeMint and a few other Republicans threatened to shut down the government. The taxpayer cost for a one day shut down is $100 million dollars. This is fiscal conservatism?
Three - Sen. Tom Coburn, a Republican from Oklahoma refuses to release $917 million in aid to Haiti resulting in millions of people homeless and completely exposed to the elements. The money was slated by both the Senate and House this past summer, but not a dime has arrived in Haiti. Obviously Mr. Coburn who calls himself a doctor could care less about being humane and others suffering from his ideology.
Four – John Boehner handed out checks to lobbyists while on the floor of the House of Representatives. This was shortly after he talked about corruption in the House and how he was going to clean it up. Wouldn’t that indicate to voters on the right who really controls the GOP?
Five – How will the Tea Party and others react to the GOP dumping MediCare, Social Security and the Department of Education?
These are just a few examples of where this party is headed and what their intentions are. As usual they will cater to big business forsaking the working class.
